Scholarship Program

Scholarship Award Program

Cambridge Landscapes offers its first annual scholarship award program to three eligible Pennsbury High School seniors.

Whether you are interested in landscaping, landscaping design, or design, this scholarship is available to any senior willing to put in the time and effort to create a beautiful landscaping job for a local resident.

Here's the break-down:

Interested students must first fill out the student application provided on the link below. In addition to the application, students must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher as well as an essay as to why he/she should be considered for this unique experience.

Applications are due by November 15, 2010.

By early December, Cambridge landscapes will narrow down the applications to the top 10 students who will then participate in the design part of the scholarship program. A meeting will be held discussing the details of the landscaping, which will be conducted at a local Pennsbury High School resident's home.

What?! Yes, that's right, residents also get a change to apply for a FREE landscaping job to be performed at their home. By simply filling out the resident application detailing why you should be chosen to have this work done and submitting that with a photo of the area you are looking to have landscaped, residents will be considered.

Only two types of lanscaping will be considered:
1. Front Entranceway landscape bed (not to exceed 40' X 4')
2. Backyard Landscaping (not to exceed 150 sq. ft.)

Resident applications are also due by November 15, 2010.

Once the resident is selected, a meeting will be held between Cambridge Landscapes, the chosen resident and top ten students, detailing the landscape design portion of the scholarship program. Here Cambridge Landscapes will give budgetary restrictions, supplier details, photo of property, as well as a change to meet the resident and hear from them what they are looking for in this landscaping project. After this meeting, students will have until January 30, 2011 to complete a landscape design by whatever methods and submit a supply list that meets the budgetary restrictions of the project.

And then the hard part begins. Cambridge Landscapes owners, Scott and Tracey Brown, along with their salesman, Jeff Ratner, will select the three winners of the scholarship. Awards will be:
  • 1st prize: $1500 scholarship to school of choice, plus the opportunity to intern with Cambridge Landscapes for the 2011 season.
  • 2nd prize: $750 scholarship to school of choice
  • 3rd prize: $500 scholarship to school of choice
These awards will be given out at Pennbury High School on or around February 28th.
The actual landscape project will occur in March, with all three winners of the scholarship program actively participating in the installation of the landscape project.

If you are a Pennsbury High School senior or parent, follow the “Student Application” link below.

What are you waiting for? Submit those applications today or by the November 15 deadline and get the ball rolling into your future.
